Hello and welcome. I’m Shaine.
I’m a first-time and stay-at-home mum living in Australia, and the heart behind MotherooHQ. I was born in the Philippines and moved to Australia when I was 11 years old. I’m now 28, and I bring together my lived experience as a mother, my professional background in education, and my passion for early childhood development to support parents through the early years.
My interest in learning and creation began early. At just seven years old, I was customising themes on MySpace, Blogger, Tumblr, and later WordPress. I’m completely self-taught, with practical skills in HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript, and experience managing websites through cPanel and WordPress. While I enjoy digital creation, education has always been my true calling.
I hold a degree in Primary Education, inspired by my dream of becoming a teacher like my Auntie. While completing my degree, I worked in childcare, caring for children across a wide range of ages, including infants as young as five months old. Over more than eight years in the education sector, I have worked across early childhood and primary settings, gaining a strong understanding of how children learn, grow, and respond to their environments.
My educational journey is deeply personal. I grew up in a rural town in Western Australia and did not learn English until I moved into a boarding school. My first year of schooling in Australia was incredibly challenging, as I navigated a new language without the support I needed. That experience shaped me profoundly and became one of the strongest motivations behind my desire to become a teacher. My second year was spent finding my voice, learning English, and rebuilding confidence. Today, I speak both English and Tagalog fluently, and I carry that lived experience into my work with families.
Becoming a mother clarified everything. Motherhood confirmed what I had always felt, that this work is my higher calling. Experiencing pregnancy, birth, and the early months of parenting led me to explore child development research more deeply, particularly neuroscience and evidence-informed parenting. I wanted to understand not only how children develop, but how parents can be supported with clarity, compassion, and confidence.
My parenting philosophy is grounded in conscious parenting. I believe children deserve to be raised with respect, connection, and emotional safety. I believe parents are their child’s best advocate, and that learning should be tailored to the child rather than forcing children to fit into rigid systems. For our family, homeschooling reflects those values and allows us to prioritise our child’s wellbeing, individuality, and natural pace of learning.
I hold strong values around privacy and consent. I choose not to share children publicly online, not out of fear or shame, but because children cannot consent and the digital world carries real risks. I believe in protecting childhood. I also believe in early communication through sign language to support connection and reduce frustration, early and respectful toileting awareness, raising children with access to more than one language, nourishing bodies with food made by nature, and supporting emotional regulation through modelling and co-regulation. These beliefs are shaped by both research and my own childhood experiences. I also believe in low-tox living, recognising the role our environment plays in health, and I believe in God, whose guidance underpins my values and parenting.
Motherhood is a deeply transformative journey, filled with joy, uncertainty, and countless decisions. As a first-time mum, I understand how overwhelming it can feel to make choices that shape your child’s development while trying to trust yourself. That understanding is why I created MotherooHQ.
My mission is to empower first-time parents through research-based, evidence-informed guidance that supports both parental confidence and healthy child development. I believe every parent deserves access to clear, reliable information without fear, judgement, or overwhelm.
Through MotherooHQ, I share free resources on child development, sensory play, safe sleep and SIDS awareness, feeding, emotional development, and gentle sleep support. For those seeking deeper guidance, I also created an affordable learning platform that offers structured content, practical strategies, downloadable planners, and age-based support across the early years.
My vision is to build a supportive, grounded community where parents feel informed, capable, and confident. I want parents to understand their children more deeply, trust their instincts, and approach parenting with clarity, intention, and compassion.
Thank you for being here. I’m so glad you found your way to MotherooHQ, and I look forward to supporting you on your parenting journey.
