Hello and welcome. I’m Shaine.
I’m a first-time mum living in Australia, and the heart behind MotherooHQ. I was born in the Philippines, moved to Australia when I was 11, and I’m now 28. I bring together my lived experience as a mum, my professional background in education, and my love for early childhood development to support first-time mums through the early years.
My interest in creating things online started young. At seven, I was customising themes on MySpace, Blogger, Tumblr, and later WordPress. I’m completely self-taught in HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript, and managing websites through cPanel and WordPress. Digital creation has always been a quiet passion of mine, but education has always been the real calling.
I hold a degree in Primary Education, inspired by my dream of becoming a teacher like my Auntie. While I was studying, I worked in childcare, caring for children across a wide age range, including infants as young as five months old. Across more than eight years in education, I’ve worked in both early childhood and primary settings, and I’ve come to deeply understand how children learn, grow, and respond to their environment.
My own educational journey is a big part of why I care so much about this work. I grew up in a rural town in Western Australia and didn’t learn English until I moved into a boarding school. My first year of schooling in Australia was one of the hardest years of my life. I was navigating a new language without the support I needed. My second year was spent finding my voice and slowly rebuilding my confidence. Today I speak both English and Tagalog fluently, and I carry that lived experience into everything I do with MotherooHQ.
Becoming a mum clarified everything. It confirmed what I had always felt. This is my higher calling. Pregnancy, birth, and the early months of parenting pulled me deeper into research, especially around neuroscience and evidence-informed parenting. I wanted to understand not only how children develop, but how first-time mums can feel supported, clear, and confident in the decisions they’re making every day.
My parenting philosophy is grounded in intentional and conscious parenting. I believe my child deserves to be raised with respect, connection, and emotional safety. I believe I am her strongest advocate, and that learning should adapt to her rather than forcing her into rigid systems. For our family, homeschooling, open-ended play, and Montessori principles are how this philosophy shows up in everyday life.
I also hold strong values around privacy and consent. I choose not to share my child publicly online. This is not out of fear. It is because children cannot consent to a digital footprint, and the online world carries real, lasting risks. I believe in protecting childhood. I also believe in early communication through sign language, early and respectful toileting awareness, raising children with access to more than one language, nourishing bodies with food made by nature, and supporting emotional regulation through modelling and co-regulation. These beliefs are shaped by both research and my own childhood. I believe in low-tox living, and I believe in God, whose guidance underpins my values and how I parent.
Motherhood is one of the most transformative journeys a woman can go through. It is full of joy, uncertainty, and constant decisions that shape the person your child becomes. As a first-time mum, I understand how overwhelming it can feel to make those choices while also trying to trust yourself. That is why I created MotherooHQ.
My mission is to support first-time mums with research-based, evidence-informed guidance that builds both confidence and healthy child development. Every mum deserves access to clear, reliable information without fear, judgement, or overwhelm.
Through MotherooHQ, I share free resources covering child development, open-ended and sensory play, safe sleep, SIDS awareness, feeding, emotional development, and gentle sleep support. For mums who want to go deeper, I’ve also built an affordable learning platform with structured content, practical strategies, downloadable planners, and age-based support across the early years.
My hope is to build a grounded community where first-time mums feel informed, capable, and trusted. I want mums to understand their children more deeply, trust their instincts, and approach parenting with clarity, intention, and compassion.
Thank you for being here. I’m so glad you found your way to MotherooHQ.
