A three-week unit on where our food comes from. Two weeks on vegetables, then a week growing a purple sweet potato from a slip. Soft watercolour pictures, real vegetables, and hands-on learning your little one can touch, taste and grow.
What’s inside: 21 lessons over three weeks
Week 1, What is a vegetable? Roots, stems, leaves, bulbs, flowers and seeds we eat, tasting a rainbow, and an Arcimboldo vegetable face.
Week 2, How vegetables grow: seed to sprout, what plants need, soil and garden helpers, a pea life cycle, ways new plants begin, and farm to table.
Week 3, Growing a purple sweet potato: starting slips in a jar, growing roots, planting out, why it’s purple, and harvest.
